New Year, New Self-Care Rituals
Happyy Happy New Year! 💗🥂💫🥂
Self-care is how we are entering 2022. Making sure we take some time every day to do something for ourselves. We spend so much time taking care of everyone else!
It is so important to nurture all other aspects of your life, your emotional and spiritual wellbeing are just as important as your physical wellbeing ( if not more!). Self-care is different for everybody, so don't shy away from experimenting and learning what works for you and what fills your your cup.
Moving with intention - making time and space to let yourself reflect and in turn gain more clarity will help you flourish in your daily life! We are sharing our favourite self-care rituals for the new year (sometimes a warm bath or a quick stretch sesh is all you need!)
Scroll down to learn about these new rituals we're putting into our routine to help reduce stress, sleep better, and become our best selves!
1) Practicing Yoga
We ❤️ our yoga here at Twentyseven. You don't have to be the most flexible or be an expert-level yogi to experience the benefits of yoga. Practicing yoga consistently has been shown to reduce stress, release muscle tension, improve your mental wellbeing and allll that relaxing goodness! Whether you're practicing for 5 minutes a day or an hour a day, you'll find yourself feeling soo much better physically and emotionally.
2) Reading More
Reading is a great way to help keep yourself focused and improves your concentration. Did you know an average person's attention span is only 8 seconds? Concentration is a super power~
3) Taking Warm Baths
Sometimes a long, hot soak in the tub is all you need! Baths have been shown to reduce stress, improve mood and assist in the release of physical and emotional tension.
Twentyseven Tip: Adding a bath bomb that includes a soothing fragrance like lavender or epsom salts, can make you smell good, soothe achy muscles and make your skin silky smooth!
4) Getting Outside
It sounds simple but going for a walk in nature is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Feeling connected with nature can help reduce blood pressure and slow the production of stress hormones. Not only is it great exercise but the calming sounds of birds chirping and leaves rustling can make you feel more relaxed and grounded.
Twentyseven Tip: Don't forget to stay hydrated and keep a water bottle with you at all times throughout your walk!
5) Putting Yourself First
The best investment you will ever make is in yourself. Taking care of your surroundings and your hygiene can impact your emotions and confidence in a powerful way. People find that they feel more productive when their space is less cluttered and more curated to inspire them. What better way to light up a room than with hydrated, glowing skin! It's not a coincidence that when you put yourself first and take care of yourself, you'll feel an instant boost in your mood.
6) Meditating
Meditation is probably one of the most effective self-care strategies around. The main goal of mediating is to focus on your internal presence and practice stillness to allow the mind to go quiet. Believe it or not, practicing meditation consistently - whether it's 5 minutes or 50 - has been shown to improve your brain function and immune system! Singing bowls can be used to ground body and mind. A beautiful addition your meditation room or living room.
7) Nourishing Your Body
Neurotransmitters like serotonin (the happy hormone!) are produced in the gut so what you put in your body does affect your mood and wellbeing! It's important to be mindful of what we consume (digitally and physically) in this upcoming year because everything is deeply connected.
